Proposal

For my overall project I plan on showcasing geek subculture--that is, exploring the weird interests and niche hobbies that make up people's lives. Since the goal of the project is to explore what Florida means to me, I think this idea captures that concept well because Florida is made up of weird people (it has a bit of a reputation for being a bizarre state) and because I think something like geekiness and weird interests is very important to me. I plan on photographing people engaging in their interests--proudly showing off the thing that makes them unique--and objects that represent their hobbies (ex. a pair of jugglers tossing bowling pins or an African tribal dancer in their dance outfit while they move about; a large pile of anime DVDs or a 20 sided dice.)
